Training Camp:
I loved training camp so much. I learned so much and really got to know everyone on the squad and the leaders, who I love so much. I’m not even sure where to start in a blog, so this is just about the first two weeks of training camp.
These were for sure the most physically and emotionally draining weeks of training, but I got so much out of it.
Waking up in my lovely tent every morning, breakfast was at 8, and we were always hungry by the end of training. In the kitchen there was a picture of raccoons with a note saying “the kids we are feeding,”
After breakfast we took our chairs into the training center where we had worship which I loved so much then had a session, a break, and then another session. After that we met as just D Squad and either did team bonding games, prayer, or discussion. Then free time!! Friday nights were usually revival night, which was always an important time of worship. After the first two weeks, the Semester and Expedition squads left. We still had sessions, but we were allowed to leave campus more. And yes… we made many coffee runs into Gainesville, which I loved, but I have to say it was hard being so close to home but not actually home.
Emma came and did Serve Team, so I got to see her for about a week. It was so special to be together in a place she loved so much and encouraged me to go to. Emma, I love you. Did I ever read one of your blogs? No. But I love you dearly.
For training we also went to Black Mountain, North Carolina for a week to help rebuild houses after Hurricane Helene. We were there the week leading up to the one-year anniversary of it hitting. Being able to start ministry was amazing, even though construction is not where I thrive. It was a really special time for Team River it was the first time we really got to be a team. And we made epic froyo bowls.
Team River is:
Jorden (our leader),
Macie, Mercy, Ryle, and Zoe ❤️
Training camp was definitely a crazy roller coaster, but I really love D Squad, and I’m looking forward to how God is going to use us.
Sorry it has taken me so long to blog it’s not my strong suit but I love letting you guys know what’s going on.
